Hall County / Gainesville GIS

A Geographic Information System is a computer system capable of capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying geographically referenced information; that is, data identified by a geographic location. The system is used to link digital map data with tabular data from another database and analyze it based on its location. Digital map data consists of a number of map layers such as parcels, subdivisions, street centerlines, contours, streams, city limits, flood zones, and zoning.

In Hall County, GIS is a joint program of Hall County & the City of Gainesville. Through an intergovernmental agreement the staff provides GIS services to the cities of Flowery Branch & Oakwood.

The GIS Staff is responsible for the development and maintenance of the County's digital spatial databases and for providing mapping and data services to local government departments & staff. Public access to GIS mapping services is provided through our GIS Map Viewer.
